The bible says, in Ephesians 2:10, “For we are God’s MASTERPIECE, created in Christ JESUS UNTO GOOD WORKS…

What an awesome declaration, particularly when we consider what a masterpiece is. The word “masterpiece” refers to a work of outstanding artistry, skill, or workmanship. It refers to an artists’ best piece of work. The Apostle Paul, in his letter to the church at Ephesus, proclaims, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” As he discusses the issue of Salvation, he emphasizes the believer’s New Life in Christ. Paul says, to the Ephesians, and to you and I, we are God’s masterpiece, a product with a purpose. Yes, you are a product with a purpose, but your purpose has a process (a series of occurrences that produce change or development.)

As human beings, we love the promises, but we struggle with the process. We want instant blessing, instant notoriety, instant fame and fortune. We feel entitled to such because, after all, we are God’s masterpiece. Well, allow me to submit for your consideration the fact that, while you may be God’s masterpiece, you are also a “work in progress”! It is, therefore, critical that we commit to the process of becoming all that God has declared us to be. Others may call you “a piece of work” (in the negative sense), but you’re more than “a piece of work” you are “a work in progress.” Like the clay in the hands of the potter, you are being shaped into a vessel of honor. Stay on the wheel (potter’s wheel)! You are God’s…masterpiece!
